Why Tinkerbell is the greatest

I am a lost boy… from neverland.

I am so happy that Ruth B captured everything I love about J.M Barrie’s beloved story, Peter Pan. As a kid (and probably even now) this was my favorite Disney movie. While most of my other friends loved Ariel, Cinderella and Belle, I always loved Peter Pan. I was even jealous of Wendy Angela Darling, and so I decided that even though Tinkerbell went against the normal Disney happy go lucky grain, and tried to kill Wendy, she and I would forever be best friends. Since then, Disney has somehow managed to change the perceptual image that Tinkerbel has going on, coming across as a cute little happy fairy. I remember the truth. She is a normal girl stuck in the friend zone, with her beloved Peter never really appreciating her until its almost too late. This story line was more pronounced in the 1991 film HOOK, which, lets face it, is the best Christmas movie of all time. It takes place during Christmas time, thus making is a Christmas movie. Don’t fight me on this. I watch it every year.

“I drank poison for you Peter” Julia Roberts says, and all of a sudden you get the feels. What its like to be forgotten about, even after you give someone your all. But then your heart strings are pulled for all grown up Peter and his stolen children. Where can you place your loyalty in this movie?

All in all though, Wendy doesn’t end up with Peter, and this makes me happy in a jealous girl fairy type of way. In that sense, Tink wins. I love the Tinkerbell waits quote design because it reminds you that somewhere out there in Neverland, Tinkerbell is waiting to be reunited with her best friend, and her heart breaking love.
